This year the OASPP Commission (President: Stefano Podini; other members: Gutweniger Heinz, Stefan Leitner, Renzo Stenico and Dodi Nicolussi) has decided not only to support local athletes but mainly to give life to an accident prevention action and first aid in sports.
This first project was made possible thanks to donations from Panathlon of Bressanone, the Sport Museum of Villabassa and the Podini Foundation, which this year supported the OASPP, as well as the operational help of the Croce Bianca.
The initiative, conceived in collaboration with the Croce Bianca, aims to supply 3 defibrillators in as many sports facilities and in particular at the sports center of the Gasteiner School in Roen Str. in Bolzano, at the sports hall in Trieste Str, in Bolzano and at the Sports hall of Bressanone in Laghetti Str., also ensuring adequate first aid training. The OASPP will provide the defibrillators, while the Croce Bianca will have the task of training medical personnel for their correct use. At the same time, the Croce Bianca undertakes to organize first aid courses and adequate annual updating for all teachers and coaches who work at sports centres. OSAPP and Croce Bianca will get in touch with the managers of the sports facilities to better coordinate the initiative. The OASPP and the Croce Bianca with this action also intend to raise awareness among the management of all South Tyrolean sports clubs to underline the importance of adequate accident prevention and knowledge of the correct first aid measures in the sports environment.
According to the most recent statistics, South Tyrol is the region with the highest incidence of sportsmen compared to residents at national level, both in the amateur and in the professional field and therefore equipment and preparation are necessary and extremely important. at a high level to be prepared in case of need.
